Dundee Physical Education Teacher

Welcome to Dundee Physical Education. I am excited to see your child and help them grow and develop. I love teaching P.E. and ensure my classes are high energy and fun! While I keep to a routine, the students move almost the full 50 minutes while learning to balance, throw, catch, learn a new game and have fun doing it.

I started teaching P.E. at Dundee in the 2010-2011 school year. Prior to that year, I taught aerobics, weight training, lifetime fitness and Introduction to Health Careers at Northwest High School. I taught high school for 5 years and was ready for a change. My first year teaching was 2004, after finishing my certification at Creighton University. I was a co-teacher at Belvedere Elementary School with a wonderful mentor for my first year of teaching. I have spent all 13 of my teaching years with OPS and I plan to retire from here. Prior to teaching I was an instructor for Midwest Airlines and taught people to use the computer system for the airlines. I met my husband working at the airlines and we've been married 12 years. I have 3 children and occasionally they attend Dundee summer school with me. I love playing with my kids, riding bikes and camping as a family and playing with my dog.

Please check your students specials calendar, as they MUST have proper shoes to participate in activities. If you are unsure about a pair of shoes, have your student bring them to me and I will let them know if they work for P.E. Your child will only walk for class if they do not have proper footwear.

Units and Lessons

All classes focus on moving different levels and speeds during the first quarter. Another focus is teamwork and cooperation, with an emphasis on working with everybody and not just close friends.

The year started with learning squad spots, freeze at the whistle and all the routines in P.E. and the gym. First quarter skills include kicking, catching, tracking a ball and soccer skills.

Second quarter skills include volley, pass, throw and catch with different types of balls and volleyball games. Skills of dribbling, pass and catch and basketball games are also included. The quarter ends by working on balance skills.
